Summer complexion- Do's & Dont's
Summer is here, therefore my skin is going bananas. I am now having difficulties handling the acne that appeared on my cheeks and chin. The excessive exposure to heat causes the skin to secrete more sebum than usual, in order to create a protection layer from the sun.
I had to eliminate all the causes of the issues and I have found these below:
-
Check the places you have acne most often….on the cheeks I presume. Well, the problem causing it is….the item you cannot live without…drumroll please…..TADAAAA- Your phone!
You touch different things during the day and what do you do? You wipe your phone occasionally with your hand because I am sure you leave some foundation or sebum on it each time you talk to someone. Stop wiping it with your hand and use some glasses wipes or a little bit of hand sanitizer placed on a normal tissue.
-
Second…your pillow. Yep! We spend 8 hours or more with our faces drowned in dead cells. We lose around one million cells daily, most of them end up on our pillow. So make sure you change the cover at least once a week or place a clean towel over it before going to bed. One more thing about the pillow, if you are a little anti-wrinkle maniac, search for a satin pillow case instead of a cotton one. Your complexion will thank you.
-
Using beauty products that are too harsh for your skin. I did this mistake too. Using a product that will dry your skin will only make things worse, meaning that your skin will contra balance the situation, secreting more and more sebum, making you look like a lighthouse()happened to me only yesterday when my husband asked me if I was wearing an oil mask again)
-
Touching your face…I still try to stop myself from doing this. The make-up tends to go downhill because of the heat and I sometimes fix it with my fingertips. Bad, bad move! Don’t do it. If you have to do it, wash your hands first.
-
Hair products- If your hair reaches your face, most probably the ingredients from those products will harm your skin. The acne localized on the forehead is caused in most cases by foam or hairspray.

What to do:
-
First things first: reduce the make-up items you apply. Let that vitamin D help increase the beauty of your complexion. Use a lighter foundation or a BB Cream(don’t forget about sunscreen)
-
To reduce the acne, place some honey on your face, as often as you can. Believe me, it makes miracles! I have been using it since last Friday and the redness and swelling are almost gone.
-
Rub an ice cube on your entire face and neck before you leave home. Why? First of all, it will close your pores, making your skin less vulnerable to the germs in the air. Second, your will sweat less because your body will need some time to regain the previous skin temperature.
-
Hydration, hydration, hydration! Drink lots and lots of water and remember to apply some rich vitamin cream before going to bed. Nobody likes a cracked face, especially in the summer!

I really hope this helped you.
Have a wonderful summer ladies!
